Pro-II's 23 'active zones' allow immediate control of various functions and one-click recall of settings by clicking on hidden hot spots around the window, but it's not the most obvious way of accessing parameters. The clear and silvery Solina strings were THE strings of the seventies and eighties, used on every stage and on every record. The later "Omni" called devices added a polysynth and a bass section to these strings. The trimpots are a fascinating and genuinely useful feature, allowing you to move from perfectly even calibration to extreme variations between each of the synth's voices. They tend to break and are not available any more. The one area that slightly lets it down is the editing interface. The sounds are really analog and the knobs are simple but enough to detail the sound.

Holding and dragging the buttons allows continuous control of the mix settings but a simple pair of rotary controls would surely be much more convenient without diluting the concept too much?

Please type this code: Preset is a passable, generic strings sound, but the rest are pretty useless. Just like the original synths that inspired it, OP-X Pro II is capable of producing a wide range of sounds, but excels at pads, warm strings and bass.

If you want to find out just what made Oberheim's '70s and '80s synths so special, OP-X is strimger much your only software option. In the sampled unit, these were replaced by modern standard dividers placed on a custom board. OP-X is primarily based on the Oberheim OB-X, but what makes it more interesting is that it's not just a straight clone.
There is also the excellent Selena from Benoit Serrano. This kind of attention to detail pays dividends when it comes to the synth's sonic capabilities.

It's somewhat baffling that you can take your pick from dozens of Minimoog emulations but SonicProjects' OP-X is the only major Oberheim clone on the market. Even so, the interface issue doesn't change the fact that this is a highly capable synth.

Excellent, team it up with glaceverb and play it out! Stringer is an emulation of classic sstringer synths: This can be partly recreated with the two pannable engines of the Stringer.
This results in tons of transistors, capacitors and wires inside this machine. No puedo decir que super, pero mas o menos si.
The sounds are really analog and the knobs are simple but enough to detail the sound. The great looking instrument is integrated in a wood case for easy transport.
Stringer - Virtual ARP Omni, Solina, Logan - VST
The octave string sound is almost a complete half step out of tune with no ability to adjust the tuning. ARP, which got famous with the Odyssey and their semi-modular synths. Seriously, this one is incredible. Now it's available in the virtual world - without any shortcomings.

Best thoughts to all for this end of year! I have other string synthesizer VSTi. When combined with the basic but usable delay and reverb effects and the powerful arpeggiator, it's a highly versatile sonicprojectx engine.
